Memorial Day Weekend

We had such a nice weekend with family and friends that I didn't want it to be over. Hillary was in town visiting from New York, so on Thursday we headed downtown for lunch at Nordstrom's with Alix and Katie. Roman slept through the entire lunch, so it was what I consider a total success. Friday night I went to Tracy's for a girl's night. It felt good to get out and have a little time to myself and to catch up with everyone.

Saturday, Amber was visiting from Ohio so we got to catch up at my house and then headed to Tomatina's in Pleasanton with Kelli and Mel. Sunday my parents had a BBQ and the Rohrlicks came. We had a fun time with Maddie and she is just the sweetest girl ever. She was hilarious learning how to fly a remote control helicopter.

Monday we went to Elisha's to celebrate her upcoming wedding in NYC. Roman got to spend some time with other babies and just loved Noah. I can tell they are going to be good buds.

Roman did really good all weekend and the fussiness is becoming less and less, which is such a relief. I think the medicine must really be helping. He has started to smile and is now able to relax a little, so it makes me so much happier to see him happy.

A Big THANKS to Jason. He took care of Roman on Friday and Saturday night so I was able to see my friends that were visiting from out of town. He is so good with Roman and never worries. I feel so lucky. THANKS JAY!

2 Months

Roman turned 2 months today. WOW...time flies so fast. He is starting to become more and more aware of his surroundings and my favorite thing about him is the little noises he makes. He has just begun to smile and we love trying to get those smiles out of him by staring at him and making crazy noises. The things we now do to entertain ourselves.

I can't imagine my life without him. He is my little buddy and I love cuddling with him. When he gets worked up I sing to him (in my awful voice), but he loves it and it magically puts him to sleep. I have many songs in my repertoire, but here is his favorite (tune is to my little sunshine):

You are my Roman, my little Warrior
You make me happy everyday
You'll always know dear how much we love you
Please God Bless My Little Babe

We went in for his 2 month check-up and here are his latest measurements:
Weight - 11 pounds 13 ounces
Height - 23 1/4 inches long
I can't believe how much he has grown and he now really looks like a baby as he is starting to chunk it up, rolls and all. I can't even find his neck anymore and have a hard time cleaning it during tub time. The doctor gave us some medicine to try to help alleviate some of his acid reflux and pain that he has after eating and spitting up. We start tomorrow and from what I hear it can make such a difference. As many of you know I hate medicine, but knowing this will help him feel better I am so relieved. It was the best news of the day.

Some of his favorite things include:
Bath time
Laying on his changing table
Being outdoors
Held, rocked, bounced
Music (especially Classic Rock on Sirius)
Going on walks in the neighborhood with Marley

I am loving the warm weather and can't wait for all the fun outdoor activities for summer.

*This is his favorite move. We call it "Fight the Power". He has been doing it since Day 1 and it cracks us up.

Roman's Baptism

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father.
James 1:17

Roman was baptized this morning at St. Matthew's and it was such a beautiful day full of so much celebration. St. Matthew's is such an important part of my life and I've experienced so many memorable events at the church. From being an altar girl in high school, my Grandma's Memorial Service, getting married and saying many prayers at the altar, this church forever holds a special place in my heart. I love that Roman also now has a special day in his life at St. Matthew's. It was so great to look around the church and see so many special friends and family from our lives. Pastor Bill, who married Jason and I, happened to be attending this service and it made me smile to have him there.

Here are some pictures from the day. I look forward to Roman growing up in the church and watching his faith grow. We love that our church is so accepting, loving, contemporary, fun, loving, supportive, upbeat and positive. These are all qualities we hope Roman will embody in his life. I was a little worried that Roman would cry throughout the baptism, but he was perfectly content the whole day. I joked that my prayer was answered.

Thank you to my parents for having a beautiful luncheon filled with delicious food and of course, a gorgeous cake.
To Heidi and Chris for being Roman's godparents. I know that you will be such amazing spiritual advisors to our little man.
AND to our family and friends for celebrating our special day with us.

Pastor Sara did a beautiful job. She is so warm hearted.

A candle to light every year on this day to remember Roman's baptism.

My 1st Mother's Day

This was one of the best days of my life and a day I will remember forever. For the past couple of years, I've always wanted to be a mom on Mother's Day and to have that wish become true felt so amazing. To be blessed with a baby is beyond words and changes your life forever. There are days when I look at Roman and am still in awe that he is ours. To be a mother is such a gift and although I've realized in the past 2 months the work that it takes, the reward is worth it all.

I remember being at church last Mother's Day and Pastor Sara acknoledged all the women that were trying to have children or going through challenges to become Mom's. I remember praying that I would one day experience becoming a mom. Now a year later we celebrated Mother's Day with Roman's baptism, which made it even more special and memorable. I hope I never forget these feelings of gratefulness.

Gillian Marie Flower Shoppe

A fellow Pi Phi friend from ASU just recently opened a flower shop in Danville and it is adorable. It is a great location and decorated so cute. I told her it looked like it was out of a movie. She put together a beautiful arrangement for Mother's Day for Jason's mom and really has an eye for color. The store is set-up in a Farmer's Market style with fresh cut flowers in tins. I told her I would help spread the word of the store. Be sure to check it out. AND she also does events.

Megan (her sister) and I were in the same pledge class and Gillian was a few years younger. It was fun to catch up.

Labs Love Water

Anyone who owns a lab knows that they are obsessed with water. Marley is happy that the warm weather is back since that means the sprinklers come back on. Once she hears the noise of them turning on, she runs outside and is in heaven. However, we now know why certain parts of the grass are turning brown from lack of water.
